In follow up to the completion of the National Food Consumption and Micronutrient Status Survey in Zambia, Intake hosted a multi-sector Dietary Data Use Workshop with government and academic stakeholders in the country to explore how the data could be used to help inform the design of evidence-based programs and policies in the country. The workshop had three key aims: 1) Enhanced appreciation of the opportunity provided by having high-quality national dietary data available for use in the country; 2) Increased awareness and engagement across sectors around the recent national dietary data results for the country; 3) Increased understanding of the relevance of dietary data for multi-sectoral use for the evidenced-based design of policy and program interventions. The key output from the workshop was the creation and cultivation of country-led sector-specific dietary data use plans as a first step toward optimizing the potential for use of the national dietary data available in the country. Plans are now underway to take forward these dietary data use plans. Key highlights of discussions from the workshop are summarized in the graphic illustrations available at this link.
