This newly released Intake survey guidance document provides a description of the methodologic challenges to estimating usual intakes from dietary surveys and recommendations for how to address these challenges in the context of quantitative 24-hour recall dietary surveys in LMICs. Guidance on the minimum number of repeat 24-hour dietary recalls that are needed to estimate the distribution of usual intake is also provided, both in the context of ubiquitously consumed foods, food groups, and nutrients; and in the context of episodically consumed foods, food groups and nutrients.
